The museum, founded in 1991 by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, has the world’s greatest collection of his work, as well as regular temporary exhibits presenting the works of international artists.
Friedensreich Hundertwasser is largely regarded as one of the most influential Austrian painters of the twentieth century. His art is a vivid palette of hues with mesmerising asymmetry, with a focus on nature, animism, and ecology – as well as architectural motifs.
Hundertwasser’s ecological devotion may be evident throughout his large output, which is part of the permanent collection of the Kunst Haus Wien. Paintings, photographs, lithographs, silkscreens, etchings, and other media are on display. It’s a must-see for art aficionados in Vienna. The museum is a work of art in and of itself.
