Overview

Take a guided full-day tour to see Edirne from Istanbul.
The second capital of the Ottoman Empire, the city of Edirne, is an important hub for travelers going between Europe and the East.
Visit the Selimiye Mosque, Sinan’s masterpiece, the Uc Serefeli Cami, the Eski Cami (Old Mosque), and the four different minarets on the Uc Serefeli Cami.
Shop at Ali Pasa Covered Bazaar or Selimiye Arastasi, and check out the Beyazit Kulliyesi Medical Museum.
The cost of lunch and hotel pickup and drop-off in Istanbul are both included.
You’ll leave your lodging early in the morning and head to Eski Camii.
Between 1402 and 1404, the building was constructed with cut stone and brick.
Beautiful white marble and artistic calligraphy are used to finish the walls and pillars. The three balconies on the southeast minaret gave the mosque its name, Uc Serefeli Camii. Each balcony has its own set of stairs, and each minaret’s colorful tile decorations is different. The 15th century saw the greatest advancement in mosque construction with the addition of minarets. The most stunning structure in Edirne was created for Selim II (1566–1744) by the Mosque of Selimiye Sinan, who also served as the Abode of Felicity’s architect for 50 years. It was Sinan’s old-age masterpiece, and the four minarets and rising central dome served to emphasize its symmetrical design. Another name for Semiz Ali Pasa Arasta is Semiz Ali Pasa Arasta. It is a sizable building with shops on both sides that resembles a tunnel and was finished in 1589. One of Edirne’s specialties, soap in the form of fruits and vegetables, is available there. At the meeting point of the Meric and Arda rivers, Meric Bridge (New Bridge) was constructed between 1842 and 1847. All that is left of the tower that once guarded the main gate of the citadel is Kule Kapisi, a tower gate from the 12th century. The Hadrianic defensive system was repaired as a part of it by the Byzantine emperor John Comnenus II (1118–1143). The largest complex in Edirne, Beyazit Kulliyesi included a mosque and a medical facility renowned for the skill of its practitioners.

Meric Bridge (New Bridge) was constructed at the junction of the Meric and Arda rivers between 1842-1847. Kule Kapisi (a 12th-century tower gate) is all that remains of the tower, which once protected the principal gate of the citadel. It was rebuilt by the Byzantine emperor John Comnenus II (1118-1143) as part of his repair of the Hadrianic defensive system. Beyazit Kulliyesi is the largest in Edirne, the complex had a mosque and a hospital which was famous for the skill of its surgeons. In the octagonal domed timarhane, the insane were treated with musical therapy. At the conclusion of your historic tour, you will be returned back to your point of origin.
