It has a total geographical area of 301,230 sq. km. and borders France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, and the enclaved microstates of Vatican City and San Marino. Rome is it's capital and biggest city. Italy has traditionally been home to myriad peoples and different cultures due to its central location in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean.
